Westlife Speak Out About Spice Battle
Click Here To Watch Westlife They are speaking in the Showbiz News, near the end of the first video
Pop band Westlife have spoken out about their reported chart battle with the newly reformed Spice Girls.
The Girls had planned on releasing their greatest hits album on Nov 5, the same day Westlife's new comeback effort Back Home is to hit the shelves.
But the group who are known for their 'girl power' seem to be backing out of the head-to-head chart showdown after changing the release date of their compliation to Nov 12 instead.
Either way Westlife are feeling confident about their chances of chart success, insisting they don't care who they are up against.
Shane from Westlife said: "We always seem to be in some kind of chart battle, every year there's someone out against us or somebody we've beaten or whatever it may be. Whether its us against the Spice Girls, it would probably be a very excting week for us and the Spice Girls. Who would win, I don't know."
The bands were caught up in a musical battle in 2000 when they released their albums at the same time, with Westlife bagging the coveted top spot.

'The Lads Can't Stand Christina Aguilera'
LOUIS has seen the best and worst side of the biggest stars during his reign in the showbiz industry.
He explained: "I've heard nightmare stories about the likes of Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Beyonce.
"But Westlife found Mariah perfectly charming when they worked with her.
"They can't stand Christina Aguilera. She is extremely talented, ambitious and very professional.
"Yet I've met few people in the entertainment industry who have a good word to say about her.
"Westlife have no time for her since she tried to have Mark Feehily thrown out of his seat at a club because she wanted to sit there.
"Diana Ross was also very much the diva when she recorded When You Tell Me That You Love Me with Westlife.
"The guys told me she was very aloof on the set. But they had to admit she was a real professional who delivered on the day.
"In my eyes Miss Ross is entitled to be a diva because she is a true legend.
"It's no coincidence that Cliff Richard, Tom Jones and Tony Bennett are all hard-working, courteous and totally grounded artists and still top of their game even though they are pensioners and beyond."

Spices Opt Out Against Westlife
IT was all set to be the chart battle of the year.
On Tuesday night, the SPICE GIRLS announced to industry execs that they were going to release their greatest hits album on November 5.
Then yesterday WESTLIFE declared they too planned to put out their album on the same day.
But now POSH, SCARY, GINGER, BABY and SPORTY have sensationally chickened out of the chart clash and put back their album release to November 12.
The girls, or should that be ladies, have obviously not forgotten the hammering they got in the charts in November 2000 when they last went head-to-head with the Irish crooners.
The Loife album, Coast To Coast, sold 234,000 in the first week, compared with 71,000 for the Spice Girls’ Forever album.
I reckon the lads purposely waited for the reunited Spices to announce the release date this time round so they could go into battle and beat them again.
And the girls’ team were obviously worried enough to change the date to avoid a potential humiliation.
It would have been a tough one to call, however.
The advantage the girls have this time is the nostalgia surrounding their reunion tour.
The album Forever came after GERI HALLIWELL had quit the band and the songs simply weren’t good enough.
It’s a different story this time round though - the girls have a greatest hits with two new songs on it.
I wonder if the mischievous Westlife team will fancy putting their album back to November 12 to take on the Spice Girls?

Spice's West Strife
EXCLUSIVE: Gloves are off as 'Loife and Spice Girls scrap to top charts
Westlife have accused the Spice Girls of "running scared" in an extraordinary war of words that broke out over the release dates of their new albums.
Seven years after their last infamous chart battle, when Westlife's record thrashed the Girls', hostilities have broken out again - and it's already getting nasty.
It all kicked off yesterday when Westlife announced that their new CD Back Home would go up against the Girls' greatest hits collection on November 5.
It could potentially spell a second humiliation for the girls, whose 2000 album Forever was outsold by Westlife's by 234,000 copies to just 73,000.

But minutes after we broke the news to the Spice camp they suddenly switched and said their release date was actually November 12 instead.
They also claimed they were NEVER going to release on November 5 - and even accused Westlife of moving THEIR date as they were scared of going up against the girls.
A spokesman for the Spices' label EMI then rushed out a terse statement declaring that there was "no truth" in "rumours we are moving release date in response to any other release."
Yet 3am can reveal that major retailers were told by EMI that November 5 WAS the planned release date.
A spokesman for Woolworth's told us yesterday: "As far as we're concerned the Spice Girls' release date was November 5 and we haven't been told any differently."
Meanwhile a source close to de 'Loife tells us: "The Spice Girls are running scared after the trouncing the boys gave them in 2000.
"Their claims that it is in fact Westlife who are scared of the Spice Girls - not to mention the fact that it was the lads' idea to change the date - are absolutely ludicrous and smack of desperation."
And late last night the row was ramped up further when Westlife suggested they too might abandon November 5 and go head-to-head on the new date of November 12. Phew!
Our Westlife insider tells us: "It's war and they're not getting away that easily. They can run but they can't hide."
It all means we might in for the same kind of verbal punch-ups we saw seven years ago when Kian Egan said his album was a "much better buy than the Spices". And Bryan McFadden sniped: "The Spice Girls are a bunch of old has-beens - apart from Mel C." Fingers crossed...

Spice Girls, Westlife Prepare For Chart Duel
By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
The Spice Girls are to duel Westlife for the number one spot on the UK album chart.
The reunited girl group's Greatest Hits album is due for release on November 5, the same day that Westlife's eighth studio collection Back Home is expected to hit the shelves.
In 2002 Westlife's Coast To Coast platter beat the Spice Girls' Forever disc to the top of the UK album charts, selling 234,000 copies to the girl group's 74,000.
However, it is rumoured that the Spice Girls are considering delaying their album's release until November 12 to avoid a chart battle with the Irish boyband.
A Westlife insider told DS: "The boys can't wait to take their album up against the Spice Girls - they are definitely going to enjoy this and would be absolutely gutted if the girls moved. Westlife always absolutely relish the challenge of being up against other big music acts!"
